What a sports weekend with many more to follow as we officially kickoff MARCH MADNESS this week. Big East basketball Friday and Saturday and GO PITT, they rocked the garden this weekend…LOVED IT. Then on Sunday the brackets are announced and PITT gets a #4 seed in a seemingly winnable bracket and oh by the way, the all-time winningest coach in NCAA history picks them to win the National Championship…how awesome is that?! Its going to be an awesome tourney, a tough one to pick with some good matchups and lots of possible upsets. I will be filling out my brackets tomorrow probably as I digest some of the professional’s opinions. Good luck to all!!
P.S. I heard on Zaban this AM that the NCAA says you should not use the bracket to do any type of gambling or contests, so keep that in mind…
Yes, today marks Eli’s 10 month old birthday (do you call it a birthday? not sure, anyways…). Ya it’s hard to believe that he has been with us that long. Actually, it’s even harder to believe that he is only 10 months old! Either way, what a blessing he is. He is just the happiest little guy and he just has this way of whatever else is going on in your life, he just sort of takes it away. I mean, you look at him and he just lights up and it’s impossible to not smile back at him.
And his sister Charlee, ya she just adores him (most of the time) and the feeling is definately mutual. They do this thing where he will steal her toy when she puts it down just so that she can fuss and get yelled at, then he forgets about the toy compeltely amost as if he is saying, “ha ha ha, you got in trouble sis!”. It is a blast to watch these 2 growing up. What gifts from GOD!!
The new episode of Rob & Big was one of those recaps from the first half of the season when they do best and worst, you know the one that you normally turn off cause it sucks. Well I have to say, I have never laughed so hard in my life!! I mean, these guys are just truly funny and to the point that even the stuff that does not make the cut is still some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen. The worst pet of the year, the mini horse…so funny. I can’t believe they kept the poo…man the fridge must stink. And last but not least, I need to get me a net gun!!
If you haven’t seen it or you didn’t watch it becuase you thought it would be stupid, think again and watch the rerun. Believe me, you won’t regret it.
Today was the big day. After almost 2 months wait, today I finally got my FIOS TV and internet hooked up. This meant 2 things: I finally could watch HDTV on my 42″ Visio HDTV, and I would be able to use the internet more since it would be so much faster than DSL.
Let me just say, FIOS is awesome! The speed is incredible (I just downloaded 53MB from Microsoft in less than 30 seconds). Oh, and the HDTV you ask…incredible. I never thought I would notice the difference as much as you actually do. I was watching Around the Horn on ESPN and switched over to ESPN HD and OMG the difference is just incredible. I even called in my wife, who could care less about all things techy (she usually just plays along because a) she loves me and b) she has no other choice), and even she was amazed at the difference. See the difference between me and her is that she noticed the difference on Days of Our Lives, and I noticed it on ESPN (figures right). So I have repeatedly made the statement tonight that I am not going to watch anything anymore that is not in HD only to find out that most of my favorite shows on MTV such as Life of Ryan, Rob and Big, and RW/RR Challenge are not broadcast on MTV HD…what the heck is up with that!? Well, I will watch almost nothing that is not in HD
So Eli has officially started coloring. He started on Friday by coloring with Uncle Fred and then on Saturday at Red Robin, he went to town on the kids menu. He is so darn cute.
Even more exciting than that, he is now walking a lot. I mean he is a couple days or a week away from walking everywhere instead of crawling. It is really exciting and fun to see him doing this. He seems soooo big, but he is not even 10 months yet. Simply crazy.
Oh, ya and he likes chocolate donuts and chinese food (found those out this weekend). Crazy how you worry so much less the second time around…
Just started blogging and the first weekend that comes, I blog zero times. Zip, Nada, Zilch!! Oh well, at least I can say I thought about blogging a few times
Saturday afternoon Jennie and I watched the Bridge to Tarabithia. Jennie cried, I cried, Charlee continued asking if we were sad Crappy movie for making me cry, but otherwise good. Absolutely TERRIBLE ending and why the heck did the little girl have to die? At least they could have showed her in the forest later in the movie…
Saturday night we had a “date night” which really turned into a “group night” and went to see Vantage Point. It was a good movie and contrary to what you might believe, the story is made up of flashbacks of 8 different people’s vantage points to the shooting of the president (like, no way man!!). I am not gonna lie, I felt like I was watching Groundhog Day except just when I thought I could predict what was going to happen next (president gets shot, building blows up, etc.), the next vantage point showed the “bad guys” and was nothing like what you might expect. Then the movie ended terribly, which seems to be happening a lot anymore with the movies we watch. What’s up with that?!?! I guess that’s why the guys in Hollywood make the big bucks.
After the movie we indulged ourselves at Eat’n'Park then headed home to round up the troops. We knew that today (Sunday) at church was going to be nuts as ALL of the kids from nursery were at my house and not one was sleeping at 11pm. So church was really fun this morning from that perspective and then, when we had computer problems, printer problems, copier problems, and everything in between, you can kinda guess how the day started off. But God is Good and he pulled through with a great message from Pastor and a great day at home with my family. Tomorrow is Monday, it’s back to the office for another fun filled week.
Oh ya, and I just fried the motherboard of a computer I was rebuilding for the church. Man, Satan was just having a field day with us today. Too bad for him that God can kick his a$$ anytime….
So first game with Hossa and we get smoked and he leaves with an “unspecified knee injury”…what’s up with that? Man I hope he is not hurt because when Sid the Kid comes back, we are going to be unstoppable. And why the heck would the Steelers offer Nate Freaking Washington a bigger contract then Santonio Holmes?!?! I just don’t get it. HELLO…Ben asked for a good, tall receiver. And with free agency starting, well in a couple hours, I am sure we Steeler fans will again be dissapointed at another year with no big changes. Maybe the Steelers should hire Ray Shero…
Anyways, on the bright side of things, the Pirates are 1-0, probably the last time all season they will be above 500. 16th straight losing season coming right up.
So here goes, my first blog ever. I never thought I would be one to get into this stuff, but we shall see. This just about completes the stuff that I never thought I would get into: MySpace, Facebook, and now blogging. Oh well, I guess I will have to choose something new to boycott temporarily!
So my plans for this are as follows. I will share random thoughts about my life, my job, my walk with Christ, my family, and of course sports. I tend to think that my children will dominate the blog for the most part because they are awesome and everyday they do something new and since there is not a whole lot of exciting things going on otherwise, it is probably something I will be able to talk about daily.
So there it is, the first one. Let me know what you think and if you think I should just give it up or if it could be something cool. Oh, and be sure to checkout my website at http://www.wastchak.net as I have just updated it and I like it a lot.
